Syllogism is one of the easy to win questions in reasoning, but we have seen so many aspirants are finding difficult in solving these questions. Usually Venn diagram method is used to solve these but they will consume time in case of no/possibility conclusion cases. So here we are explaining the concept of syllogism with some examples by using some simple rules.
First and foremost have a quick glance at the main rules to solve syllogism problem.....
⇒ All + All → All → (+) Positive
⇒ All + No → No → (–) Negative
⇒ All + Some → No conclusion
⇒ Some + All → Some → (+) Positive
⇒ Some + No → Some not → (–) Negative
⇒ Some + Some → No conclusion
⇒ No + All → Some not (Reversed)
⇒ No + Some → Some not (Reversed)
⇒ No + No ⇒ No conclusion
⇒ Some not / some not reversed + Anything = No conclusion

How to use these syllogism rules to solve question?
Let us see about with example :
Statements : (i) All mobiles are computer.
(ii) All computers are television.
(iii) No television is bottle.
Conclusion : (i) All mobiles are bottle.
(ii) Some televisions are mobile.
We know you might be able to solve it by using Venn diagram method that's good.
Explanation : Lets take 1st conclusion, we have to make relation between mobile and bottle so we will take
Statements 1st and III :
There is A positive and a negative statement -
So we will get negative effect on it.
It mean → Positive + Negative → Negative
So conclusion 1 is wrong.
Now take IInd conclusion. We have to make relation between television and mobile. So we will take statement IIIrd. We find that there is a relation between them. It mean this is true conclusion.
So the conclusion you get for this will be as follows :
Conclusion I. (×)
Conclusion II. (✓)
There are two types of statements in these questions :
(i) Positive (+) statement (ii) Negative (–) statement
It mean, we have may be four type of questions, which have two positive and two negative statements.
